As I reach closer and closer to staying up for 24 hours, Im always fascinated and curious to stay up longer. Today was 23 hours and a few minutes, give or take a few minutes.
But this has nothing to do with my post (or lack there of recently).
Today, I am thankful for christmas parties.
My roommate and I had the wonderful pleasure and joy of throwing a party at our house this past friday night. A christmas craft party to be exact. And for those of you who are not quite familiar with that then well your not the only one.
I got the idea from some friends of mine who had attended a craft party for halloween. They explained that its essentially a girls night with food, drinks, and crafts. I mean lets be honest, half of my college days were spent in other girls apartments eating junk food, watching movies, and crafting. SO with the holidays coming up and realizing my own stash of christmas decorations is lacking due to little storage and apartment life, I decided a christmas craft party would be an awesome idea. And before I could even fully explain the idea to my roommate, she was already pintresting crafts.
It wasn't a big party, just me and 5 of some of my closest friends with paint brushes and glue guns in hands, crafting the night away as the soft tunes of christmas music filled our hearts and sweet sugary foods filled our stomaches. Spending time like that reminded me of the many memories I had shared these friends separate and together. I was so incredibly happy getting to just relax and craft, but more importantly be surrounded by friends again.
Since graduating, social gatherings are not as easy as they were in school. Making plans with people has become more difficult and its hard to always get everyone together at the same time. But friday night was a uniting of many friends, sharing in a common interest, laughter, and friendship.
It was so fun planning and getting the house ready just as it was stressful, and did I over do it and spend way to much money? Maybe….but I wouldn't trade that Friday night for anything.
